Concept Page Updated
Renovating cultural heritage buildings is complex. Strict protection regulations, high energy demand, and limited compatibility of standard retrofitting solutions often make improvements difficult. The updated HERIT4AGES Concept page clearly presents how the project addresses these challenges. HERIT4AGES develops reversible and resource-efficient solutions that improve energy performance, comfort, and accessibility while remaining fully compatible with heritage values.
A strong emphasis is placed on co-creation and acceptance, involving heritage authorities, users, and local communities throughout the process.
The page introduces the project’s key building blocks:
a co-creation toolkit,
a digital twin ecosystem platform,
environmental sensors and a smart energy router,
and innovative renovation solutions for walls, floors, and ceilings.
These solutions are tested and validated in five listed demonstration buildings across Spain, Italy, Estonia, and Portugal, providing real-world evidence on performance, comfort, and replicability.
HERIT4AGES shows that cultural heritage can be preserved and adapted to modern needs—without being left behind.
