New Press Release Explores HERIT4AGES Renovation Solutions

The BUILD UP platform recently featured a press release showcasing HERIT4AGES’ renovaiton solutions, developed under the leadership of project partner CETIM. The renovation solutions aim to enhance the sustainability and energy performance of historic buildings while safeguarding their architectural value. Included is a HERIT4AGES video further explaining the processes behind the renovation solutions.

The distinct solutions for floors, ceilings and walls that each address a challenge within the architectural construction of heritage buildings and aim to improve sustainability and building performance are expanded on by the Lead Researcher of Sustainable Building Materials, M. Alberto Miguéns Blanco; the Researcher of Sustainable Building Materials, Stephany Arrejuría; the Researcher of the ECO BIO Technologies Area, Miguel Do Muíño Méndez; and the Senior European Projects Officer, Pablo Frieiro, within the article feature.

Highlighted are also the contributions of CETIM to the assessments of the developed renovations via LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and LCC (Life Cycle Costing) that, when benchmarked with the Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), show reduced environmental impacts in several categories. Additionally, the material-based solutions are being validated across four HERIT4AGES locations, providing real-world data to assess their performance, suitability, energy efficiency, and sustainability in historic buildings.
