Inside CETIM’s Work on Sustainable Renovation Materials
A new HERIT4AGES video takes a closer look at the work of project partner CETIM Technological Centre and the research behind some of the project’s renovation solutions.
Within HERIT4AGES, CETIM leads the development of solutions for walls, floors and ceilings. The team is exploring materials derived from local industrial and bio-based waste streams, investigating how these resources can be incorporated into new building materials suitable for renovation applications.
The solutions are being developed as demountable systems designed to improve the energy performance of historic buildings while remaining compatible with their heritage value. Alongside material development, CETIM also evaluates their sustainability, including environmental performance and cost-effectiveness, supporting their testing and validation in real-life conditions.
As highlighted in the video, these solutions are being developed with real demonstration sites across Europe in mind, connecting material research with testing and implementation. The team has collaborated with Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna on solutions for the Bologna Living Lab, while at the Spanish demonstration sites, CETIM, Fundación Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico (FSMLR), Łukasiewicz – Warsaw Institute of Technology (LWIT) and other project teams have worked together on their installation and assessment.
